Our History 本旅歷史

The 5th Hong Kong Sea Scout Group, founded in 1965, proudly holds the title of the oldest continuously operating Sea Scout Group on Hong Kong Island! Originally sponsored by Hong Kong New Method Collage, the Group HQ was located at 101 Caroline Hill Road, Causeway Bay, until the 1980s when it moved to the Tai Hang Road campus due to renovations.

After a dynamic decade of relocation in the 1990s, the Group HQ officially found a home at the Hong Kong Island Region HQ in 2000. It was then the group embraced its new identity as the "5th Hong Kong Group (Sea Scout) New Method College Old Scout Club", and later, on 15 August, 2025, renamed to the "5th Hong Kong Sea Scout Group (Open Group)".

In 2009, the adventure continued as the Group HQ had to relocate once more due to redevelopment of the HKIR HQ. We held regular meetings at various locations in Causeway Bay until early 2019 when we joyfully returned to the newly constructed "Hong Kong Scout Centennial Building", marking an exciting new chapter for our group!

 

港島第五海童軍旅創立於一九六五年，為港島區持續存在歷史最悠久之海童軍旅。本旅主辦機構原為「香港新法書院」，旅部早期設於銅鑼灣加路連山道一零一號香港新法書院，至八零年代因校舍拆卸遷往大坑道新法書院分校校址。

 

經歷九十年代的多次搬遷，至2000年本旅終於確認以港島地域總部作為集會地點，並改名為「第五旅（海童軍）新法書院童軍舊生會」，二零零五年八月十五日更名為「港島第五海童軍旅（公開旅）」。

 

至二零零九年，本旅再次面臨搬遷的挑戰，隨著港島地域總部的重建，我們在銅鑼灣不同地點舉行臨時集會，直到二零一九年初，我們回到了新建的「香港童軍百周年紀念大樓」，開啟了本旅的新篇章！
